Not Your Typical Post-Election Debrief
Join the SVRN for a Post-Election Research Debrief on Nov. 15!
College student voting rates have increased dramatically in recent years, doubling from 2014 to 2018 and reaching nearly the same rate as the general population in the 2020 election after decades of lagging far behind. Earlier this year, a group of leading scholars, student leaders, and practitioner experts came together to form the Student Vote Research Network (SVRN) to explore new insights about how to get even closer to 100% student voter participation. We’ve learned a lot together already, and we’ll continue to evaluate, learn, and iterate following this election and in the years to come.
The post-election period offers an important opportunity to reflect, debrief, challenge our assumptions, and plan for the future. Sadly though, post-election discussions are often built around posturing and not necessarily on learning. Not ours.
We invite you to join us on Tuesday, November 15 from 4:00-5:00 PM ET for a post-election research debrief to hear about innovative efforts implemented this fall by many different types of student vote stakeholders, including scholars, practitioner experts, and local campus leaders. We’ll discuss research and evaluation currently underway, as well as underresearched strategies and tactics ripe for evaluation.

During the debrief, we will also release the State of the Student Vote Fall 2022 edition which will highlight our collective progress toward answering the following three questions:
How do we strengthen grassroots leadership committed to 100% student voter participation at every college and university?
How do we identify the most impactful tactics for mobilizing student voters?
How does everyone else, especially local election officials, help grassroots campus leaders succeed in moving towards full student voter participation?
If you missed the Summer 2022 edition, you can find it at this substack link.
If we are serious about reaching 100% student voter participation, we have to be able to have honest and transparent conversations about the work that’s been done, the questions still on the table, and the strategies that may not have been as effective as we had hoped. The 2022 SVRN Post-Election Research Debrief will provide all of us a chance to come together to explore new ideas with rigor and honesty. We hope you’ll join us!
