Announcing the 2024 State of the Student Vote Workshop!
Join us Wednesday, April 3 at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago
In April 2022, we launched the Student Vote Research Network with an incredible virtual workshop that featured some of the most cutting edge research and innovation happening at the forefront of the movement for 100% student voting.
A year later, we came together in Chicago for the 2023 SOSV workshop, held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA). In the first half of the workshop, we heard about original research projects led by 2022 SVRN subgrant recipients. In the second half, we held three sessions co-facilitated by community partners and scholars focused on how we can deepen our partnerships by generating research and synthesizing results in ways that are useful for movement strategy related to the SVRN priority questions.
Join us in Chicago on April 3
This year, we will again meet at the MPSA, on Wednesday, April 3, from 1-5pm, at the historic Palmer House Hotel. You can RSVP here, including requesting travel support. Preference for that funding will be given to emerging scholars and students, and to participants coming from community colleges and minority-serving institutions.
In Chicago, we’ll hear updates from some of our 2022 subgrant recipients as well as findings from our 2023 subgrant recipients, including Dr. Elizabeth Bennion, University of Indiana-South Bend; Dr. Jennifer Victor, George Mason University; and Dr. Diane McMahon, Allegany College.
We’ll also continue the important conversations from 2023 about how best to move forward on productive partnerships between scholars and community experts to help move us forward toward our shared goal of actionable research findings that will help us achieve 100% student voter participation.
We are making incredible progress together as a network. The 2024 State of the Student Vote Workshop is an opportunity to do just that. If you can make it to Chicago on April 3, we’d love for you to join the conversation. If you can’t make it, consider this email an open invitation to find your place in the Student Vote Research Network over the course of the next year. It’s going to take ALL of us—including you—to get every student to the polls this November.
