Announcing the 2025 State of the Student Vote Workshop!
Join the Student Vote Research Network in Chicago on Thursday, April 3
In April 2022, we launched the Student Vote Research Network (SVRN) with a virtual workshop that featured some of the most cutting edge research and innovation helping advance the movement for 100% student voting.
In 2023 and 2024, we came together in Chicago for in-person workshops held in conjunction with the annual meeting of the Midwest Political Science Association (MPSA). We heard about original research projects led by SVRN subgrant recipients and engaged in collaborative conversations between scholars and community experts to help move us forward toward our shared goal of actionable research findings that will help us achieve 100% student voter participation.
Join us in Chicago on April 3
This year, we will again meet at the MPSA, on Thursday, April 3, from 1-5pm, at the historic Palmer House Hotel in Chicago. If you’d like to be added to the agenda to share work you conducted in 2024 to motivate or better understand student voting, please fill out this form to propose a presentation and request travel support (if needed). If you’re interested in attending but not presenting, please fill out this form to RSVP and request travel support (if needed). Funding for this year’s workshop comes from a grant from the National Science Foundation.
We are making incredible progress together as a network. The 2025 State of the Student Vote Workshop is an opportunity to advance our work even further. If you can make it to Chicago on April 3, we’d love for you to join the conversation. If you can’t make it, consider this email an open invitation to find your place in the Student Vote Research Network over the course of the next year.
Melissa R. Michelson is Dean of Arts & Sciences and Professor of Political Science at Menlo College. She also serves as Chair of the Student Vote Research Network Steering Committee.

This is great!! I wish it were happening before the special elections April 1. Besides phone banking, how do we get young people out to vote in the 2 special elections in Florida?
